Animal droppings found in nature

When we wander the forests we can rarely see the timid mammals that live there. However these mammals leave their visiting cards from which a nature lover can easily identify different species.

The best visiting cards are animal droppings. You can estimate for example elk, reindeer and rabbit population densities by counting the animal droppings in a defined area. As you can see some of the deciduous trees along the nature trail look quite peculiar because elks have been feeding on them.
